Encara que ens pugui semblar mentida, hi ha moments en què els coreans no estan estudiant. Sé que són moments estranys en la vida d'aquesta gent, però n'hi ha. (De vegades). (Bé, en concret abans d'entrar a fer el batxillerat, perquè llavors la vida que poguessis tenir fora de la biblioteca s'acaba). Però anem a l'important! On passen el temps els coreans quan són adolescents? A una gran metrópolis com Seül hi ha moltes opcions, però una de les preferides són sens dubte els salons recreatius.

Com veieu a la foto, no tenen una pinta gaire diferent dels clàssics salons recreatius ja quasi desapareguts al nostre país. Però tenen les últimes innovacions, com per exemple aquesta màquina de la dreta de la foto de dalt, que serveix per simular que toques la bateria.

Evidentment tenen els clàssics mata-mata, amb pistoles i pantalla gegant inclosa i allò tronja és...una cabina de karaoke!!! En aquest país els encanta cantar, així que fins i tot als salons recreatius tenen cabines amb centenars de cançons per escollir de tots els països. La meva elecció va ser fàcil: LA MACARENA! (És més internacional del que ens pensavem eh?).

In Korea they love singing, so even in the arcade games room they have cabin with hundreds of songs, from all countries. When I went there, my choice was an easy one "La Macarena"! For those who don't know what's that, it's a spanish song which was famous worldwide during...maybe the 90's?? Just search it in youtube... typical summer song with catchy dance!

I per totes aquelles mares escèptiques, que creuen que si els seus fills van a jugar a màquines recreatives no faran salut, aquí tinc la solució: màquines de ballar! Per Barcelona n'he vist alguna vegada: els "botons" estan a la plataforma, i has d'anar-los apretant a mesura que surten a la pantalla. Vaig quedar molt sorpresa a la velocitat que la gent mou els peus en aquest país...

I've seen those in Barcelona: the control is on the platform, so you have to push it with your feet. I was really amazed how fast do these koreans move their feet...

Però com sempre, el millor de tot és el preu. Cada partida costa 15 cèntims!! Però he de comentar que lamentablement a les màquines més modernes, com aquest joc de lluita, el tekken 6, el preu s'incrementa a... 23 cèntims. Recordo haver pagat 2 euros a Catalunya per aquest tipus de coses...
Like always, the best is the price. While in my country I remembered paying up to 2 euros for some machines like these, here it's only 200wons (0'20$), and for veeery new games, 300wons.

Amb aquests preus no és d'extranyar que si tens una estona morta vagis a passar-la a un saló recreatiu. així que tan pots veure homes amb americana i corbata com nens amb els seus amics. Com veieu aquests nois no són precisament adolescents (sinó gent una mica més crescudeta), fent una comptetició de lluita. Els molt pesats es van passar la tarda allà i no vaig poder-hi jugar.

Has d'anar tocant el tambor seguint els ritmes que et proposen a la pantalla. A més pots competir contra una altra persona. És un joc japonès, inspirat en els tambors tradicionals japonesos, els taiko. Tot un vici!

Les màquines recreatives van de caiguda al nostre país, des de fa bastants anys, i crec que la raó principal de que això passi és el preu. En canvi a les ciutats asiàtiques la costum segueix. Aquí a Seül he estat a diversos salons recreatius, que es troben en els centres comercials però també en tots els carrers populars. Tinc entès que al Japó hi ha plantes senceres d'edificis pleeenes d'aquestes màquines, i hi ha autèntics profesionals de cada joc. De moment estic buscant el millor lloc per jugar al Taiko de tot Seül, ja que a vegades els tambors estan trencats i no detecten bé els meus cops (i odio perdre...). Us mantindré informats!
The arcade games are losing popularity in Spain since many years ago, and in my opinion it's mostly because of the too-high prices. But in the asian cities this fashion goes on. I've been to several arcade games rooms, placed in every mall, but also in every comercial street in the city. I heard that in Japan there are building with many floors devoted only to these machines, with authentic profesionals of each game, playing everyday. These days I'm trying to find the best place in Seoul for playing Taiko, because sometimes the drums are broken and they don't detect well my beats (and I hate losing...). I will keep you informed!
