MINI-POST: Els problemes de la cirurgia plàstica //Problems of plastic surgery

Sabeu quan aneu de compres amb una amiga i a les dues us agrada el mateix jersei? Us el compreu? Jo a vegades ho he deixat córrer (no m'agrada vestir el mateix que una altra persona... fins i tot a vegades veig gent vestida igual que jo pel carrer i em va una mica de vergonya ser tan poc original!). O per a aquells no interessats en roba... us ha agradat mai la mateixa (persona/lloc de treball/ última patata brava al plat) que als vostres amics, i ho heu deixat córrer? Sí, a vegades una retirada a temps és una victoria, més que res per evitar mals majors. Aquí a Corea hi ha gent que no pensa així, i estic ben segura que si s'han de comprar un jersei igual ho fan, perquè a Gangnam (el barri pijo del sud de riu), no tenen cap problema en anar a comprar amb les amigues i comprar-se el mateix. Comprar-se el què? Ara ho veureu....

You know that horrible situation when you go shopping with a friend and both of you like the same shirt? Would you buy it? I usually let it go (I hate wearing the same clothes as someone else...even sometimes I see people in the street wearing like me and I feel embarassed of being so conventional!). Or for that people not interested in clothes... have you ever liked the same person/job/ last pizza slice as your friends, and you let it go? Yes indeed, sometimes a withdrawal in time is a victory, mainly for sparing oneself of bigger problems. In Korea there's people who don't think like this, and I'm sure they WOULD BUY the same shirt, because in Gangnam (neighbourhood of south of the river), they don't have any problem in going shopping with her friends and buying the same thing. Which thing? You will see...

Van comprar-se la mateixa cara! Això sí que és amistad. Us puc assegurar que tenen pares diferents... Ara entenc perquè aquí a corea als amics els anomenen "germà" o "germana". De petits sempre somiem que els nostres millors amics són els nostres germans, i ja veieu, amb l'ajuda del bisturí els vostres somnis es poden tornar realitat. Suposo que d'aquest post podem treuren una lliçó ben clara: si vas a comprar-te una cara nova, ves-hi sol. ( I assegura't d'anar a un lloc diferent que les teves amigues, no sigui que el proper cop que us trobeu tingueu una sorpresa). 

They bought the same face! That's real friendship! I can assure you that they have different parents...Now I understand why koreans call friends "sister" or "brother". When we are young we sometimes dream our best friends are our siblings, and as you can see, with a little help from a scalpel all your dreams can come true. The moral of all this is clear: if you are going to buy a new face, go alone. (And make sure to go to a different place than all your friends, or maybe next time you could be surprised).

El Pont de Bampo i el servei a domicili // Bampo Bridge and delivery service

La ciutat de Seül té més de 20 ponts que creuen el seu riu, anomenat riu Han. No gosaria dir que cap d'ells és gaire impressionant, perquè són més aviat normalets. No trobareu cap pont espectacular com el de San Francisco ni cap pont tan maco com el de Tower Bridge de Londres. Simplement són ponts per creuar el riu, que normalment estan plens de cotxes fent cua, o per on hi passa el metro. Res gaire recomanable... fins que vaig trobar el pont de Banpo!

Si hi aneu de dia, el pont de Banpo és igual de lleig que tots els altres. Però si hi aneu de nit podreu gaudir d'un espectacle amb llums, aigua i música digne de la font de Montjuic, però tot posat en un pont. Com es fa això?

The city of Seoul has more than 20 bridges that cross its river, named Han River. I wouldn't dare to say any of them is spectacular, they are quite normal. You are not going to find any bridge as iconic as in San Francisco or any bridge as beautiful as Tower Bridge in London. They are just bridges, useful to cross the river, usually full of cars in a traffic jam or the metro. Nothing special... until I discovered Banpo Bridge.

If you go there during daytime Banpo Bridge is as ugly as all the other bridges. But if you go there at night you will be able to enjoy a show with water, light and music, everything together in a bridge. We have something similar in Barcelona, called Montjuic Fountain (a must go if you go there). But let's take a look closer! 

Un dels millors llocs per contemplar l'espectacle és un parc enorme que hi ha al costat, que segueix la riba del riu. Hi ha prats d'herba on la gent fa picnics mentres gaudeix de la música i les fonts. Els coreans són molt graciosos quan fan picnic perquè semblen trets d'una pel·lícula: porten una lona gran i el menjar el carmanyoles (amb aquells menjars que podem veure als dibuixos animats japonesos). Però no sempre ho porten tot preparat. Què passa si a mig mirar l'espectacle et ve la gana i estàs al parc, enmig del no res? Doncs només has de trucar al servei de repartiment a domicili, que també ofereix repartiment en aquest parc!

One of the best places to watch the show is in a huge park near there, placed along the river. There are big grass esplanades that people use as a picnic area while watching the spectacle. Koreans are so cute when they are doing picnic because you could imagine you are watching a movie: they bring picnic blankets and food boxes (I think they only need the typical picnic basket for a perfect picture). The food is similar to that one we can see in Japanesse animation so often. But sometimes they don't prepare food in advance. What if you are watching the bridge and you suddently realise you are very hungry? Just call delivery service!

Pizzes, pollastre fregit, calamars a la romana... I Cervesa! Perquè no està prohibit beure al carrer en aquest país. Molt útil! Només cal trucar i et portaran tot el que et faci falta: tovallonets de paper, palillos (no vaig atrevir-me a demanar forquilla!) i menjar! Però no proveu a trucar al número de la foto: crec que encara no fan repartirments a Catalunya.

Pizza, fried chicken... and beer! In other countries is forbidden to drink in the street, but not here. Very convenient. Just call and they will come to the park and bring everything you need: chopstiks (I didn't dare to ask for a fork), napkins and food! But please don't try to call to the number in the photo: I think they still don't do delivery that far away.

Després d'un bon sopar gaudint de les llums i d'un ventet molt agradable, el millor que podeu fer es creuar el pont i gaudir d'una altra de les millors vistes de l'espectacle: des de sota.
After enjoying a nice meal it's time to take a walk to see a different view of the show: just cross the bridge and stop just below of the water tubes. 

La riba que veieu a la foto és a on està situat el parc. Tota aquesta part del pont és peatonal i per a bicicletes. Els cotxes i vehicles de motor passen per un pont situat a dalt. Com que hi ha tres espectacles per dia, en una sola visita pots veure'ls des de totes bandes. A més està molt ben organitzat: per sistema de megafonia t'avisen de quan començarà (i això és útil sobretot si ets coreà i parles coreà molt bé). A part d'aixo, és francament bonic.
The shore you can see in the photo is were the park is placed. All this path along the bridge is only for pedestrians and bicycles. The motor vehicles have their place in the bridge above. There are 3 shows per day, so in only one visit you can enjoy all possible views. Besides this, there is a announcement over speakers that informs when the next show is going to start (and it's extremely useful if you are korean and speak korean very well). Anyway, the sight is beautiful.

Em va quedar pendent pujar a un dels vaixells que hi ha (previo pago, està clar...) que travessen el pont durant l'espectacle, assegurant que tota la gent de la coberta hagi de córrer a refugiar-se si ja s'han dutxat aquell matí. L'estratègia que segueixen és la següent: creuen un cop quan no estan llançant aigua, i paren per veure el show. Però llavors engeguen altre cop en direcció al pont i la gent, una mica desconcertada, veu que hauran de córrer, així que entre rialles corren a posar-se sota una sala que ja tenen preparada. Quin sentit de l'humor aquests coreans! 
For next time I want to take a Ferry Cruise that cross the bridge during the show, making sure that all the people on the deck have to run if they had already taken a shower that morning. Their strategy is the following one: they first cross when the show is in pause, and stop near the bridge to allow people to watch the show peacefully. When it is about to end they start moving again, this time towards all the falling water. The people quickly realise they have to run, and while smiling they rush to a room specially prepared to this end. These koreans have a very particular sense of humor!
